Description

A quick and flavorful Thai basil chicken made with tender chicken, aromatic basil, and a savory sauce, ready in just 20 minutes and perfect over steamed rice.


Ingredients

  • 450 grams chicken, cut into small bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup Thai basil leaves
  • 2 to 3 whole red chili peppers, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 small shallots, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cups cooked white rice

Instructions

  1. Heat a wok or large skillet over medium high heat until hot.
  2. In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and sugar, then set aside.
  3. Add vegetable oil to the hot pan and let it heat up.
  4. Add garlic and shallots, stir for about 30 seconds until fragrant, then add sliced chilies.
  5. Add chicken and cook until browned and fully cooked.
  6. Pour in the sauce and stir well to coat the chicken evenly.
  7. Add Thai basil leaves and toss until wilted and fragrant.
  8. Serve hot over cooked white rice.
